Tour Changes - December 7, 2007

Well here we are on the beautiful west coast!! My goodness, when you leave it, you forget how wonderful 70 degree weather can be!

Unfortunately, other areas on our tour schedule haven't had the same super mild/non-existent winter.....

We've had to cancel our Portland dates, as we were planning a northern route back to the east coast (after playing Portland), but weather has prevented us from even getting there!

We are cutting the trip a week short, to enjoy the holidays back at home in Lawrenceville, PA.

We apologize to our Portland fans, we love you all, and love-love-love the city, we will book something again soon!

LA went well, the Knitting Factory show was a great success. We also fell in LOVE with the people of Culver City CA...... we played Otis College of Design nearby in the afternoon, and the wonderful people there invited us to crash at their house in-between shows that day, making it possible for us to relax between dual shows on one day, and not get stuck in nasty LA traffic! Thanks Mary! The show that night was fun and uplifting, a much needed highlight after having to cancel our Northwest plans.

Hope your holidays are just rippin with fun!

Producers notes: Hey all Melanie here........ - August 9, 2007

While Jana is away doing something very important (that's what she said anyway), I thought I take some time to update you on the goings-on.

First off- This new record ROCKS!!

Producing this record myself has been a HUGE challenge! Not only has there been a big learning curve as far as technology (the last time I "tweaked" like this in my bedroom was back in 1985 with my Ensoniq VFX-SD sequencer........which by the way I have re-purchased just for the makings of this record!!!!!) All hail the VFX!!

I wanted to capture Jana's voice as it is, a true-clean beautiful instrument, without pretension. We tracked the drums and 50% of the bass and elect guitar at Electric Wilburland Studios in Newfield New York last December. We then went on tour for the Bittersweet album, and when we got back, we learned that we LOVED performing as a duo so much more than as a full band. We wanted to scrap the whole thing and start over, but instead we re-focused on the tracks that did successfully capture Jana's spirit, and left the others to wilt on a hard drive.

Just 6 weeks back from tour, however, my mother passed away, causing us to cancel some VERY important shows, and put off the record one more time.

Grief has been a positive motivator for me to really finish this record, and pour myself and everything I am into it. Of course I am driving Jana crazy by now. Perfectionism, weird new concepts....... no holds here folks. This record ROCKS!! And it must, my Mom would expect nothing less.

We are still waiting for the mix engineer fairy to provide us with a great Pop mix. We are tracking the last of the background vocals today and tomorrow........still waiting for word on where it goes to next.

We tracked everything except those first tracks last December, and lead vocals, here at home. All other guitars, synth parts, bass and back ground stuff done here at home. It's great though, because I just go into my little world and be creative all day.

I really feel that this record sounds like Jana and myself. It's lead by Jana's spirit, and rock n rolled by my edgy guitar style.

Jana hates it when I say this, but those of you who know what it's like doing it on your own in a man's world will get the irony when I say, "Not bad....... for girls".

Till next time then...........

Mel
